Forrest Yoga Workshops in Marseille
Featuring Sita Menon, Forrest Yoga Guardian
Asana Yoga Studio
42, rue Jean de Bernardy
Marseille
06 83 29 49 30
Connecting to Self – Arriving in the home of your body: March 9th ~ Saturday 10h-13h : All Levels

This workshop will begin with the Native American ceremony of setting the intent through the four directions followed by chanting and singing. The asana practice will take us deep into the earth – grounding through legs and delving deep into hips. Arriving and being in the home of your body is a pre-requisite to any inter-personal connection. This practice will focus on using the breath and sensation-tracking as a pathway into our emotional states and feeling into what life patterns we hold in our problems areas.

Holding space in Mindfulness – Part 1 – March 9th ~ Saturday 2:30pm – 5pm : Teachers, Space Holders and serious students

Holding space is an integral part of the journey of teaching yoga or any other modality that involves creating and holding space for the student to feel. In this segment of the Holding Space workshop – we will learn to connect into layers of feeling ourselves in relation to another. This workshop will include a short pranayama, asana and mindfulness practice to get us connected to our bodies followed by partner and group exercises that allow us to experience ourselves in relation to another in mindfulness. We will also partner up to explore assisting one another in selected yoga poses that will allow us to experience first hand how it feels to experience ourselves in active, hands-on, contact with another.

Connecting to community through connecting to oneself: March 10th ~ Sunday 10am – 1pm: All Levels

This workshop will be a sequel to Saturday’s workshop but can also be taken independently. This workshop will begin with the Native American ceremony of setting the intent through the four directions followed by chanting and singing. The asana practice will lead into backbends – softly opening heart and solar plexus through breath and poses, while maintaining a strong, grounded sense of self. We will explore how we can energetically connect to the community around us – while simultaneously – maintaining a deep connection with staying in our bodies and staying in feeling. This art of feeling deeply into oneself while staying in relationship with others is an essential part of an authentic relationship to another.

Holding space in Mindfulness* – Part 2 – March 10th ~ Sunday 2:30pm – 5pm – Teachers, Space Holders and serious students

In the second segment of the Holding Space workshop – we will learn to see and read energy and to feel into another through our own bodies. This workshop will include a short pranayama, asana and mindfulness practice before we delve into partner and group work in seeing/sensing energy, use of empathing, kinesthetic transmission and communication in assisting, and learning to track being in relationship with another through our bodies with mindfulness.
*Please note that this Part 2 is only open to students who are doing Part 1.

Anatomy of Hands on Assists Immersion Part 1
Purna Yoga
Shenzhen, China

March 15th, 2019 - March 17th, 2019

This 3 day event covers the foundations of your intrinsic core and its relationship with phasic muscles. The intrinsic core is the deepest group of stabilising muscles and generate force from breathing. The phasic muscles carry this force which enables us to move around in the way that we choose.

A large section of this training will also cover compensation patterns so that practitioners can experientially improve their breathing, core stability and walking patterns.

This training enables teachers and practitioners so step into the role of understanding yoga as a form of therapy as opposed to exercise and general well-being. Participants will be able to develop an improved sense of prescribing sequences as well as hands on techniques for various symptoms that are typically seen in the yoga room.

Each day:

10am-11am Ceremony (optional)
11am-1pm Yoga & Meditation
1-3pm Break
3-6.30pm Lectures, Hands On Assists and Q&A

Day 1: IAP: Core Stability as a diagnostic and therapeutic approach to pose prescription. This day will cover the introduction and FAQ’s of creating Intra-Abdominal Pressure and how we use it to asses our true ranges of movement as well enable the phasic muscles to wither turn on or relax.

Day 2: Standing Your Ground: Hip mobility requires a balance of stability as well as flexibility. In this workshop you will learn the typical compensation patterns that effect people who live modern day lifestyles.

Topics covered include long term sitting, standing and various activities (predominantly sports and other types of yoga). By addressing the movement patterns that are repeated, it becomes easier to asses these patterns in comparison to breathing, core stability and walking which enables practitioners to be able to see their students through a different lenses and therefore improve pose prescriptions.

Day 3: Reclaiming What Has Been Sacrificed: Shoulder mobility is something that we as a human race have developed. Since being quadrupeds we have sacrificed shoulder stability in order to have more movement. Over many generations we have evolved to having shoulders that are the least stable joint in the human body.

In this world of arm balancing and inversions, it is important to understand what truly stabilises the shoulder joint in order to develop musculature definition as well as a reliable strength that will enable practitioners to enjoy the deeper senses of balance that comes with playing upside down.

This sequence turns what we see as arm balances and inversions into deeply therapeutic practices that are suitable for all levels.

This workshop will also include down levels and progressions for these playful poses.

Please contact jambo@jamboyoga.com who will put you in touch with the host.

For the first time ever, Abby and Jambo will be joining forces to co-create 5 days of immersive learning for yoga teachers, bodyworkers, and yoga practitioners of all levels. Each day will begin with a yoga practice that will build the trainee’s ability to feel on more subtle levels. We’ll highlight how to increase functionality of the muscles and joints through purposeful movements and breathing techniques. Participants will learn how to use the breath as a diagnostic tool to discern compensatory patterns & areas of tightness in the body, mind, and heart - and how to work with them. The morning practices will be followed by guided journeying and meditation experiences to deepen our connection to our hearts and spirit, so that we can take that skillfulness into the afternoon sessions together.
The afternoon sessions will combine techniques to help each trainee up-level the skillfulness of their ability to work with the nuances of the physical and energetic fields. We’ll work with:

Module 2:
2nd of May to 5th of May 2019
10:00-18:00 daily
Cost for module 2: 3900 SEK

This Immersion highlights the key structural muscles that every yoga teacher needs to know about. These structural muscles have many incredible functions and when they are dysfunctional, they can cause pain, limit mobility and strength development. By studying their unique personalities, practitioners will be able to confidently know where to start when working with limited mobility caused by injuries and pain.

Each day will set a meditative intent followed by a yoga practice that is designed to enable practitioners to feel their own anatomy. By receiving specific cues, practitioners familiarise themselves with functional movement patterns that open up poses in a way that is designed to inform your system of practice, no matter what style of yoga or bodywork you practise.

Afternoons are combined with short lectures on sub systems of movement patterns and a lot practical work. It is designed to be experiential because this method is more memorable.

You will learn:
* stories about these movement sub-systems,
* how to access muscles in your own body as well as many other body types to familiarise yourself with the uniqueness of each individual
* how to test movement patterns by learning a range of muscle tests that will help you further understand how these muscles go into strength.

Expect a combination of hands on assists and bodywork to gift you the tools to implement these therapeutic techniques into your chosen modality.

OVERVIEW
A 10 Day personal and professional development programme for improving movement patterns through ceremony, science, anatomy & yoga.

This training is for people who want to learn how to heal themselves so they can learn how to help heal others. You will experience the difference between practicing “thinking mode versus feeling mode” and learn effective ways to strengthen your ability to hold attention and discern deeper levels of feeling.

Our famous CARESS is the practical foundation of our bodywork philosophy. It is the backbone of all touch techniques and the most profound approach to communicating with the body.

Without the Caress as a backbone most forms of bodywork tends toward being mechanistic. With the Caress, the body’s neuro-muscular-fascial-fatty-lymphatic-vascularized sleeve learns how to uptake pleasure and meet it’s own tension in ways that release and process out through the entire body.

The entire training is taught in ways that apply to Yoga.

Journey To Being: Through Breath, Movement and Sound with Rebecca Dennis, Jambo Truong & Michele Barocchi

Indaba Yoga Studio, London
May 25th, 2019 - May 26th, 2019

A Transformational weekend led by highly trained facilitators, Jambo, Rebecca Dennis & Michele Barocchi. Within this unique event and collaboration, we will be showing you how to set your own pillars of protection to enable a safe navigation for deep healing. Using the modalities that we share, you can gather tools that are right for you as you prepare, go deep, integrate your unfolding and return to wholeness.

Most of us have experienced mental, emotional or physical trauma on some level, which can restrict our breathing and capacity to feel. The resulting body armouring and muscular tension can endure and manifest over the years. By consciously integrating trauma through a combination of somatic techniques, sound, movement, bodywork, meditation and ceremony participants will gain a greater sense of connection, embodiment, expansion and freedom in their every day lives.

On this transformative weekend, as a collective, we will create a safe environment for you to explore, connect and let go of the armour that is keeping you from living fully.
You will be guided each day through experiences that free your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual being. Learn about your own unique breathing pattern and how it affects your life. Work with your intentions to create change in your life. Leave with tools and support to continue your experience on this transformative path.

Transformational Breath uses a connected breath pattern that awakens the wisdom and healing possibilities found within the breath and combined with these other powerful modalities provides profound results. By exploring techniques through breath, yoga, bodywork, sound & ceremony, you will:
• Learn to reclaim your body and be in the present moment;
• Learn about your breath patterns and explore techniques to transform them, through movement, sound and body work;
• See how emotions get stuck in the body and learn about the scientific evidence and research that supports how the nervous system and breath respond to trauma.
• As a collective, we will create Ceremonies to hold you and the group in a safe and nurturing space.
• You will experience the difference between practicing “thinking mode versus feeling mode” and learn effective ways to strengthen your ability to hold attention and discern deeper levels of feeling.
• Make choices, take action, and create your own rhythm so that the magic of Life can support you.

This weekend is limited in numbers so please book early

Sunday 2nd June 2:30-5:00pm in the Traditional Room

This play-shop is a light hearted approach to training functional lines that enable the experience of greater joy in arm balancing and inversions.

This workshop is full of progressions that practitioners of any level can get involved in experiencing and teaching with a particular emphasis on strengthening what is weak.

This means that each practitioner in the room will be doing something different, based on where their own imbalances of strength have come from.

By strengthening movement patterns that we weak, we strengthen the overall system - so when it’s time to play with inversions, it’s a completely new experience.

Forrest Yoga 3-Day CET
Featuring Sandra Robinson, Forrest Yoga Guardian
Yogarise Peckham
B2.1 Bussey Building
London
The Forrest Yoga Continuing Education for Teachers is a 3-day training that promotes powerful insights providing deeper integration with one’s true self and helps teachers to become a more skillful, passionate, intelligent and authentic teacher, so you are better equipped to deal with challenges your student may have. Teaching authentically is much more effective and compelling for both you and your students. Led by Sandra Robinson, one of Ana’s few Forrest Yoga Guardians, over 3-days, the objective of this teacher training is to encourage trainees to develop as individuals as well as to make you a more skilled, intelligent and authentic teacher. Awareness is a vital component when developing the skills necessary to teach from your own found truths. Through daily meditation, intensives and group instruction, trainees begin to discover the voice of their own Spirit, which leads to a truly authentic life path.

Each day starts off with a ceremony involving chanting, drumming and meditation to set the intent for the day and create the space for healing and connection to your Spirit, followed by a 2-hour intensive that will create a heightened sense of physical, emotional and spiritual awareness while challenging every muscle and cell in your body. Through a carefully sequenced Forrest Yoga asanas, Sandra will open you to amazing depths and feelings of awareness. You will leave feeling cleansed, refreshed and alive. The intensives are a sanctuary where you can feel safe to open up, work through issues that may arise and go beyond your perceived limitations. You will learn about yourself and feel what it is like to have freedom in your own body and mind. The intensives are sure to bring each trainee to new levels within their yoga practice.

The afternoon sessions encompass 5-hour sessions of training and instruction. Using skill-building exercises, trainees will work with the essential elements of teaching, such as: class sequencing, explore optimal personal nutrition, work with sadhanas (spiritual exercises), learn about personal and professional ethics, effective pose sequencing, the use of safe and effective hands-on adjustments, and effective clear, concise and powerful communication, eliminating habitual phrases, and tone of voice as well as the continued development of a more charismatic presence and honesty in your class.
