Forrest Yoga Associate

About Joanne:
A beautiful friend guided me to my first yoga class in early 2000. I was in desperate need of some time, space and balance after being consumed by the intensity of being a first time mum. I immediately feel in love with the practice. Having had a background in gymnastics, I enjoyed the physicality of the practice, but really, it was the peace, stillness and sense of being deeply nurtured that really drew me. Experiencing the magic of the practice flowed into a desire to know more about yoga, which lead me to my first teacher training in 2006. From there my teaching journey began, with a feeling of natural progression from my first incarnation as a physiotherapist (10 years here and overseas). I have been teaching and continuing to study and learn (that journey is never ending!) since 2007 and have been blessed to study with many amazing teachers. In 2013 I completed my 500 hour teacher training with Yoga Arts in Bali. I am now registered with Yoga Alliance as an experienced yoga teacher at the 500 hour level (ERYT 500), and also a YACEP (Continuing education provider). My initial taste of Forrest yoga came in 2014 when Ana led the advanced teacher training in Sydney. Since then I have undertaken the foundation training (2015) and am completing a 12 month mentorship with Sinhee McCabe, one of the Forrest Yoga Guardians. The journey with Forrest yoga has been and continues to be inspiring, challenging and very rewarding on many levels. I love teaching dynamic and creative classes. Encouraging students to let go of their mindsets and expectations and open up to the flow of the movement and their breath. In essence, creating a moving meditation and a gateway into the present moment. I also love creating retreats that nourish and nurture participants. My retreats, both local and international, are an invitation to step away from the everyday and into something truly special and fulfilling for body, mind and spirit. I look forward to sharing the incredible gift and journey that is yoga with you. Namaste, Jo xx
